Pizza Dough
Recipe file created November 6, 1999.
Much better than a mix.
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 package (1 tablespoon) yeast
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 to 2 1/2 cup flour
|
Stir sugar into water in a large bowl. Add yeast -- let stand 10 minutes. Stir well. Add oil, salt and 3/4 cup flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in an additional 1 1/2 cup flour to make a soft dough. Knead 8 to 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk -- about 45 minutes. Punch down and divide in half. Press each piece of dough into a greased 12 inch pizza pan, forming a standing rim of dough. Fill with desired fillings and bake 350 F for about 30 to 35 minutes.
NOTE:
An easy pizza sauce with nice flavour is a can of tomato paste with garlic or italian herbs. It comes like this from the grocery store. Just add a little salt. Pesto sauce is also a tasty alternative.
